Experience
August 2002-present,
Technological coordinator: Infectious disease research center (IDRC) in Québec city, Canada. (Former Infectio Diagnostic Research bought by Beckton Dickison in 2006)
In charge of the scientific coordination between 7 multidisciplinary teams from private companies and academics, in order to design and develop a nucleic acid assay for rapid detection of infectious disease onto a Lab-on-Chip system. These teams are composed of molecular biologists, microbiologist, engineers, physicists, chemists, and physicians. This project is financed by a 10 million USD genome Canada grant.
1999-July 2002,
Post-Graduate researcher. Design and development of a Human Herpes Virus 8 (HHV8) microarrays.
Department of medicine, La Jolla CA, USA.
The focus of my work was to study and follow the expression of HHV8 genes in Kaposi’s sarcoma patients. For this purpose I developed a microarray containing 350 targets for the 88 orfs of HHV8 printed in aminosylane slides and set up a protocol suitable to label small RNA quantity (up to 1ug total RNA) with the dyes Cy3 and Cy5 without amplification. With this technique I was able to follow the expression of the viral genes directly from biopsies.
1995-1999,
Graduate student. Identification and characterization of a HIV-1 matrix cellular partner.
Institut de biologie, Universite de medecine, Montpellier France.
Using a two-hybrid system, I identified and characterized an interaction between HIV-1 matrix and the cellular protein HEED (Human Embryonic Ectoderm development).
I proposed a model where by interacting with the HIV-1 integration complex this protein target the integration of viral genome in special areas of the cellular chromatin.
